Job Description

REMOTE PRODUCT/PROJECT/CONSULTANCY 4 BRITISH COLUMBIA PROGRAMMANAGERNortal is a remote-first, global software consultancy specializing in modern custom software development. We employ CI/CD processes across agile, distributed teams delivering highly-performant, scalable, cloud-native applications for Fortune 100 customers. The US headquarters is in Kirkland, WA. We have over 1100 employees world-wide.Role Overview

  • A Program Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing the fulfillment of larger organizational goals. They coordinate activities between multiple projects without directly managing them. Instead, they manage the main program by placing their attention on the program strategy, project delegation, and program implementation. This manager is responsible for ensuring that the team members work together effectively to achieve the big picture vision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mentors and coaches Technical Program Owners (TPOs) and other Project Managers (PMs) on the program
  • Manages delivery of technical software development projects
  • Uses agile best practices to identify areas of opportunity within team(s) and influence positive change through education and mentoring both at the team level and within the client
  • Translates Pillar-level objectives and roadmap into team-level projects
  • Proactively unblocks their teams as needed through deep understanding of solving technical, design, and analytical problems
  • Partners with design and engineering to accelerate team velocity
  • Implements current product management processes and recommends new process improvements
  • Owns and contributes to all areas of their product area (i.e., docs, blog, marketing content, sales, and success enablement)
  • Ensures clear areas of ownership and removes product debt (e.g., sunsetting features, killing betas without PMF)
  • Plays gatekeeper to prevent distractions and protect the teams focus
  • Builds alignment and drives decision-making across multiple teams, within or across pillars, including other vendor teammates
  • Articulates and reinforces a compelling shared vision with project teams, inspires them to stay focused as hard problems/blockers arise
  • Fosters a team culture that values sharing feedback and openness to different points of view
  • Defines clean product interfaces and abstractions (e.g., API and data model design)
  • Develops quarter-long roadmap
  • Recognized as internal subject matter expert for features owned, how it interacts with adjacent product areas, and how customers make use of them
  • Risk Management
  • Monitors and measures velocity and quality of delivery while identifying and escalating risks
  • Identifies means for risk mitigation and follows them
  • Release management
  • Ensures that release procedures are followed, and proper communication is done
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development principles
  • Familiarity with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) tools
  • Effective communication skills, including effective written and verbal communication
  • Sound decision making and prioritization skills, across multiple projects and competing priorities
Education and Experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years of leading, managing and delivering large enterprise scale programs
  • At least 3 years in a consulting or client facing role
  • Experience with complex risk-management
  • Experience managing budgets and project plans with deep understanding of project finances
  • Excellent stakeholders’ management around program timelines, risks and scope
  • Experience working in TPM & TPO roles, or similar

  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
