Please view our City of Brooks Careers Corner page for more details.The City of Brooks requires one (1) Parks Maintenance II or III, in the Parks Services Department.*Job Details & Responsibilities:*As our Parks Maintenance II or III, you will be responsible for performing the day to day operation and maintenance of all parks, pathways, sports fields, cemeteries and any other related parks amenities under the departments area of responsibility. You will operate the following equipment: chainsaw, front end loaders, mowers, hand tools, bucket truck and snow removal equipment.*Requirements:*

  • Level II
  • Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in parks operations or related field;
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with Q-Endorsement;
  • Fall Protection, Flag Person, Standard First Aid, WHMIS, and Parks & Sport Fields Operator Level 1 Certificates;
  • Chainsaw Safety and Cutting Techniques Training;
  • CSA Playground Certificate or Pesticide Applicator Certificate;
  • Clean driver’s abstract;
  • Willingness to obtain Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Q-Endorsement; and,
  • Experience in a municipal parks environment, horticulture, golf course or landscaping, and certificates for Confined Space and Ground Disturbance would be considered assets.
  • Level III
  • Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent, supplemented by the Prairie Horticulture Certificate or enrolled in the Prairie Horticulture Certificate program;
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in parks operations or related field;
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with Q-Endorsement;
  • Clean driver’s abstract;
  • Pesticide Applicator, CSA Playground, Fall Protection, Flag Person, Confined Space, Standard First Aid, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, and Parks & Sport Fields Operator Level 2 Certificates;
  • Advanced Chainsaw Safety and Cutting Techniques Training;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Willingness to obtain Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Q-Endorsement; and,
  • Experience in a municipal parks environment, horticulture, golf course or landscaping, and certificates for Irrigation and Arboriculture Technician would be considered assets.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefits package with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032.
  • The 2022 salary range for this position is $26.14-$31.65 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. This position may include shifts in the evenings, weekends, and overtime as required. The Collective Agreement including wages can be found online at www.brooks.ca.
