We offer a diverse, supportive environment where you will grow personally and professionally as you learn from some of the most talented people in your field.At Cargill we have a Culture of Safety, our goal is to return everyone safely back to their loved ones every day.Reporting to the Production Supervisor or Operations Manager (depending on type of facility), the Plant Operator contributes to physically execute Operational Excellence process for the safe and efficient operation of a stand-alone grain or crop inputs facility, or combined grain and crop inputs facilities on a daily basis to achieve production goals.Principal Accountabilities:Focus on Plant operation and Risk ManagementEngaged with a team to operate the Plant equipment on a daily basisFollows Operational Policies, operator care principles and procedures to operate equipment safe and efficiently to minimize or prevent injuries, property loss and environmental damageEnsures Plant and yard are clean and safe for customers and employeesPerforms minor mechanical maintenance and may assist contractors on-site to perform repairsThe incumbent receives grain (unloading, grading, moisture testing), and then bins, blends and ships grain to the required specificationsOperates grain cleaners and dryers if the facility is equipped with them and cleans and dry’s grain to desired specifications as set out by the Canadian Grain CommissionAssists in the efficient meshing of buying and shipping programs by working closely with the Operations Manager, Production Supervisor and carriers (rail or truck)Consistently meets all rail car and truck loading requirementsBlends and ships fertilizer, operates custom application equipment (if applicable), and works in the pesticide and seed warehouses to ensure that customers receive the products and services they require in an efficient and timely mannerAssists the Plant management in managing the location grain and crop inputs inventory by following existing controls to minimize inventory lossesAssists in operating safe and efficient crop inputs warehousingFocus on Talent Management.Successfully engaged to participate in training sessions for Provincial/Federal regulatory and Cargill compliance programsParticipates in regular plant inspections and monthly safety meetings to review procedures, housekeeping, and safety awareness issuesRemains trained in and certified to handle dangerous goods as per the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and has additional safety training, e.g. WHMIS, confined space, forklift, etc.May also require certification to handle anhydrous ammonia (if applicable) and participates in training in NH3 procedures and in the handling of NH3 emergenciesParticipates in training to acquire and maintain knowledge on operator care principles to operate Plant equipment safely and effectivelyRequired:Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in CanadaCargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years oldMust be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and work in confined spacesMust be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or coldAbility to work in elevated areasMust be able to read/write EnglishAbility to work overtimeAbility to work extended or flexible hours as workloads require including evenings, weekends, and holidaysAbility to lift a minimum of 50 poundsMechanical aptitude with the ability to operate, service, and troubleshoot machineryBasic computer skillsCanadian Class 5 drivers licensePreferred:High School diploma or equivalentPrevious work experience within a manufacturing or a plant settingExcellent communication skills with a strong customer focusStrong problem solving, decision-making and organizational skillsExperience managing compliance with Environment, Health & Safety and Operations standards and regulationsKnowledge of inventory control, quality management, and operating efficiencyForklift handling experienceMust be able to operate machineryMust be able to operate heavy equipmentThis full time position is located in Congress Saskatchewan; however please expect receiving calls from a 204 area code in case you are considered.
