Job Description

Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas. SIIT welcomes over 2400 students into our urban and community programs annually as well as serving over 6000 clients through our nine Career Centres across the province. You can contribute to that success while building your career.Nature and ScopeThe Strategic Writingamp; Support Specialist plays a key role in the EDCS department by focusing on providing support to the Saskatchewan Indian Training Assessment Group (SITAG) delivery network and the delivery of the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET) Program. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT #39;s vision, mission, and mandate.General AccountabilityThe Strategic Writingamp; Support Specialist will work closely with the Vice President on a broad range of strategic, communication, and analytic initiatives to help ensure the goals and objectives of the department and institute are achieved. This position will be responsible for documenting and articulating key business directions of the SITAG and the EDCS department by working in a collaborative environment with a variety of First Nation networks, government, and other stakeholders. The Specialist will develop, prepare, and present written and verbal reports on internal, environmental and strategic topics that are identified as priorities by the department. The Specialist will provide support in the development and maintenance of EDCS and SITAG related policies and procedures. This position will also be responsible for maintenance of the SITAG website including ensuring content is consistent with SITAG #39;s overall image and is aligned with the organization #39;s strategy. This position provides additional support as required and includes the following broad range of accountabilities: Specific AccountabilitiesStrategic Initiatives

  • Provide strategic writing services as it relates to the SITAG strategic planning and reporting, briefing reports for stakeholders, and other EDCS program or service-related developments
  • Facilitate the research, development, review, and editing of proposals for funding and support that will benefit EDCS and ISET Program delivery
  • Research, prepare, write and submit fundingapplications and oversee the process
  • Prepare quarterly or annual reports as required by fundingagencies
  • Support the translation of strategic concepts and complex ideas into reports and presentations for board briefings and a
  • Develop and deliver well organized analytical presentations supported with data for key internal and external audiences
  • Investigate and capture labour market information and prepare reports/other communication on the trends and current state of the labour market for Tribal Councilsamp; First Nations
  • Synthesize and clearly communicate network and community engagement results into key trends, implications, and/or recommendations
  • Provide support in SITAG-related policy development and implementation
  • Support communication and developmental collaboration among the SITAG delivery network, EDCS program/service areas and other departments within SIIT
  • Create consistent, unique and values aligned ways of communicating the impact of EDCS and SITAG program and service delivery to various relevant stakeholders including First Nation communities, learning communities, partners, and the public
  • Connect and collaborate with network to ensure communications align with overall goals and priorities
  • Participate in the strategic development process through research, analysis and internal/external collaboration in order to further SITAG #39;s priorities
  • Provide input on opportunities and strategies to optimize client impacts that result through SITAG delivery and EDCS program/services
Reporting and Compliance
  • Ensure that work is coordinated so that strict and inflexible deadlines are met
  • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of information obtained
  • Satisfy new and evolving reporting requirements
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports to answer inquiries as required
  • legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to reporting and operations to ensure compliance
Website Management, Systems, Dataamp; Capacity Building
  • Manage, monitor, and update SITAG website content
  • Ensure that website content is consistent with SITAG #39;s overall image and is aligned with the organization #39;s strategy
  • Work with external service providers to ensure that the website is protected by the appropriate security measures
  • Develop operational expertise on SITAG #39;s reporting tool/system, the Training Administration System (TAS) as well as the ability to train others to use it
  • Perform regular data exports from the system and forward through the federal government #39;s reporting mechanism
  • Undertake quality control activities over data inputted into the system
  • Analyze data from the system or other sources and produce meaningful reports for the network of Tribal Councilsamp; Independent First Nation, the SITAG Board of Directors and other stakeholders as needed
  • Plan, coordinate and (at times) deliver regional capacity building activities to the network of Tribal Councilsamp; Independent First Nations and internally
Relationship Management
  • Undertake activities that will ensure that program and service plans align with emerging trends, address the needs of key stakeholders and remains responsive to varied environments
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders as required to develop and inform strategic options and planning approaches
  • Establish and support strong, value-based relationships with stakeholder groups including federal, provincial and First Nation governments, the SITAG delivery network, First Nation entities and industry partners
  • Provide regular and effective communication to stakeholders as requested
  • Demonstrate leadership and initiative in sharing research and outcomes with key internal and external contacts
  • Contribute to SITAG #39;s strategic effectiveness by representing and participating on internal and external committees as required
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to understand communication opportunities and challenges, and provide supports to overcome those challenges
Required Qualifications and Experience: A Bachelor #39;s degree in business, public administration, or related field is required. Proven experience in strategic writing, critical thinking, research and analysis is required. A minimum of three years related experience is required.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of SITAG and its delivery of the ISET Program, in addition to knowledge of labour market and demographic trends is considered an asset.
