Job Description

What can I expect to do in this roleAssist District staff in land use and resource management planning, compliance monitoring, auditing and implementation of resource management programs and participate in the issuance of licenses, permits and authorizations.How do I qualifyKnowledge:

  • General knowledge of lands and waters, forestry, fish and wildlife, and aggregate resources related legislation and regulations (e.g. Crown Forest Sustainability Act, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, Public Lands Act, Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act, Aggregate Resources Act
  • Knowledge of field operations and techniques (e.g. population surveys/inventories, fish collection/sampling, surveys)
Analytical and Research Skills:
  • Problem solving and analytical skills to assist with the review and assessment of data (license/permit applications, consultant reports, public issues etc.) in order to ensure license/permit applications are complete and consistent with provincial standards and applicable legislation, regulations and policies
Interpersonal, Verbal and Written Communications Skills:
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment with staff, members of industry, stakeholder groups, resource users and the general public
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to communicate with staff, clients, and stakeholders
Communication Skills:
  • Working knowledge of computer software packages including MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and GIS
NOTE:Successful candidates may be required to undergo an employment screening check in accordance with the Ontario Employment Screening Checks Policy.Eligibility:
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
  • Has graduated or will graduate from an approved or legally authorized college or university within the last four years;
  • Candidates are only eligible to participate in one MNRF 12-month placement and must not have participated in the MNRF internship program in the past.

Employees who are not vaccinated under the policy with a valid medical exemption will not be required to attend a vaccine education program.
