Job Description

Maintenance and Repair Team MemberDepartment: OperationsReports to: Maintenanceamp; Repair SupervisorGeneral Description:Maintenance and Repair Team Members, reporting to the Maintenanceamp; Repair Supervisor, are responsible for ensuring the park is upheld to a level that amazes our guest. During the winter season, the Maintenance and Repair Team in conjunction with the Landscaping Team will be responsible for snow removal and de-icing of the park grounds. This position is also required to assist with work and projects at other Capilano Group locations. As an active member of this team, this position is responsible to keep safety as a top priority in all daily tasks.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Cleaning Activities

  • Ensure park presentation is maintained at a high level of quality by executing established daily and weekly cleaning procedures in the park, Bridge House and Canyon House. This includes (but is not limited to) such tasks as collecting garbage, sweeping park grounds and cleaning bathrooms,
  • Wipe down dust and debris from all exterior surfaces in Guest Services area daily,
  • Dust all exterior walls, window sills/ledges and wipe down outdoor furniture around Trading Post building weekly,
  • Clean service walkway between Capilano Coffee Company and Loggers Grill weekly,
  • Wipe down signs throughout all areas of the Park,
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Story Centre and Living Forest Exhibits,
  • Wax the Trading Post wood floors as required,
  • Clean ponds as needed,
  • Clean and polish the antiques throughout the Park as required,
  • Clean windows as required.
  • Janitorial tasks as required.
General
  • Maintains all facilities and grounds to the highest standard of safety for all Guests, Team Members, and contractors,
  • Conducts and records daily safety inspections of attractions, as required,
  • Performs routine safety inspections of hand and power tools as required,
  • Immediately reports all safety or health hazards to CSBP supervisor and/or manager,
  • Maintains current knowledge of Capilano Suspension Bridge Park information and history,
  • Follows corporate and departmental guidelines as outlined in relevant manuals,
  • Perform additional responsibilities, as requested by the Facilities and Grounds Supervisor or Manager.
Daily Maintenance Duties
  • Ensures Park presentation and operations are maintained to a standard of excellence,
  • Ensures Park opening/closing procedures are adhered to with strict punctuality and accuracy,
  • Assists with construction, repair, and maintenance of all Park assets including capital projects,
  • Assists with set-up and take-down of special event facilities,
  • Moves equipment, supplies and furniture, as required,
  • Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools on a daily basis,
  • Assists with set-up and take-down of Canyon Lights.
Healthamp; Safety
  • Know and communicate the health and safety requirementsamp; regulations of Capilano and ensure they are followed throughout the park,
  • Be alert to hazards and immediately report hazards, defective equipment or concerns,
  • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipmentamp; clothing are available, properly worn when required and properly inspected and maintained in department,
  • Be knowledgeable about WorkSafe BC safety concerns, participate in toolbox talks and assist the JOHS Committee or any person carrying out Occupational Health and Safety duties to ensure all established policies and procedures relating to work safe conditions are being met and/or exceeded,
  • Ensure your ability to work without risk to your health and safety or any other person’s safety is not impaired by alcohol, drugs or other causes,
  • Take every reasonable precaution to ensure protection of Team Members and Guests, Safety First!
Qualifications:
  • Completion of high school, some college or technical training,
  • Previous experience using general hand and power tools,
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, heating systems or gardening,
  • Safety-focused by considering the safety of yourself and others in everything you do,
  • WHMIS certification is an asset,
  • Valid Level 2 or 3 First Aid Certification considered an asset.
Working Conditions:
  • Able to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business,
  • While performing the duties of this position, team members are required to be on their feet for extended periods of time,
  • While performing the duties of this position, required to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, rain and winter conditions,
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50lbs, and
  • Occasionally required to lift and climb a ladder and not be averse to heights.
