Job Description

The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. Our facilities are fully accessible, accommodating the needs of all individuals.We are located in the City of Regina on Treaty 4 land, which is recognized as the traditional territory of the nêhiyawak/Cree, Nahkawē/Saulteaux, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.The Regina Open Door Society Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to staff the full-term position of acting Youth Program Coordinator, with the start date being July 15, 2024.Reporting to the Welcoming Community Team Leader and Manager of Settlement, Family and Community Services, the Youth Program Coordinator provides the development and planning of programs activities that assist newcomer youth to become familiar with their community and establish supportive social networks and become thriving members of their community. The Coordinator encourages and promotes a supportive environment for at-risk youth to address barriers they may be experiencing. The coordinator works in cooperation with volunteers, youth serving organizations and other groups and organizations in the community to determine the needs of youth and develop strategies to address the identified Needs.Desired qualifications/education

  • Post-secondary education preferably degree or diploma in area of Social Sciences or Youth Development, Community Development, however previous work experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience with at risk youth
  • Minimum two years #39; experience coordinating programs
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work in partnership with groups and organizations
  • Strong commitment to providing quality services working in an intercultural environment
  • Event planning and organizing skills
  • Facilitation skills required: development and delivery of information, orientation and workshops
  • Capacity to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong computer skills
  • Demonstrates an egalitarian philosophy and nonjudgmental attitude (sensitivity to diversity poverty and minority issues).
  • Proficiency in both official languages is an
  • Fluency in languages other than English and French is an asset
  • Experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet usage
  • Available to work flexible schedules including some evening and weekends

Detailed job description
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation and evaluation of youth program
  • Ensure the daily operation of the program
  • Build relationship with existing immigrant /refugee youth and their community
  • Work in collaboration with community organizations to provide programs and services for newcomer youth.
  • Identify and report trends and priorities needed for immigrant
  • Determine gaps in service delivery and recommend strategies for
  • Ensure program and services are effective in meeting the needs of all youth, and adhere to RODS objectives.
  • Prepare and submit program reports e. monthly/annual, financial, bulk uploads, meeting minutes etc.
  • Develop and maintain awareness of services and programs for youth in within RODS and the community and refer clients when appropriate.
  • Ensure leadership by encouraging communication participation and motivation while fostering team environment.
  • Provide workshops or work with other agencies to provide workshops on racism, bullying, conflict resolution, leadership, public speaking and others.

  • Work experience in a client-orientated position or related field targeting immigrant and refugee youth and families
  • Knowledge of settlement related issues facing immigrants and refugee youth, children and families
  • Broad knowledge of local community resources that can assist newcomer youth , children and families with their settlement needs
  • Solid para professional counseling and group facilitation skills. Familiar in casework process, including intake procedures, needs assessment, goal planning, referrals, case management, documentation and follow-ups.
  • Understanding of Canada and Saskatchewan Privacy Policies and education system
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills are essential good verbal, written and presentation skills.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM. All position at RODS requires a clean criminal record/child abuse registry check. There is a cost-shared benefits package and a 3% employer contribution to the Saskatchewan Pension Plan available to the employee with successful completion of a six-month probationary period.
